Electronic Molded Case Circuit Breaker: ZSEE M1E Series (hereinafter referred to as the circuit breaker) is suitable for circuits with AC 50Hz (or 60Hz), rated insulation voltage of 800V, rated working voltage of 400V, and rated working current up to 800A for infrequent switching and infrequent motor starting. The circuit breaker has functions such as overload long delay inverse time protection, short circuit short delay inverse time protection, short circuit short delay definite time protection, short circuit instantaneous protection, undervoltage protection, and residual current protection (optional), as well as phase loss protection (optional). It can protect lines and power equipment from damage. The circuit breaker features complete and precise protection characteristics, improving power supply reliability and avoiding unnecessary power outages. Among them, the “Z, B” type controllers are equipped with communication interfaces to achieve “four remote” functions, meeting the requirements of control centers and automation systems.

The circuit breaker is classified into two types based on its rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity: M type (higher breaking type) and H type (high breaking type). This circuit breaker has the characteristics of small size, high breaking capacity, short arc length, and resistance to vibration.

  • The circuit breaker can be installed vertically (i.e., vertical installation) or horizontally (i.e., horizontal installation).
  • The circuit breaker cannot be connected reversely, i.e., only allows 1, 3, 5 to connect to the power supply and 2, 4, 6 to connect to the load.

Environmental Conditions and Applications

  1. Altitude: ≤ 2000m;

  3. Capable of withstanding the effects of humid air;
  4. Capable of withstanding the effects of salt spray and oil mist;
  5. The installation category for the main circuit of the circuit breaker is II, while the installation category for the auxiliary and control circuits is III;
  6. When the maximum temperature is +40℃, the relative humidity of the air does not exceed 50%, and higher relative humidity is allowed at lower temperatures. Special measures should be taken for condensation occasionally caused by temperature changes;
  7. Maximum inclination angle is 22.5°;
  8. In a medium without explosion hazards, and the medium should not contain gases and conductive dust that are sufficient to corrode metals and damage insulation;
  9. In places without rain and snow intrusion.

Main Functions and Features of the ZSEEM1E Series Circuit Breaker

The intelligent controller is the core component of the molded case circuit breaker, used for motor protection or power distribution protection, integrating measurement, protection, control, and communication functions to protect lines and power equipment from overload, short circuit, grounding, and other faults.

  1. MCU microprocessor control, stable and reliable performance: The intelligent controller can self-supply power; as long as one phase is powered on, and the current is not less than 20% of its rated value, the protection function can work normally;
  2. Selective coordination with three-stage protection: Circuit breakers with B-type usage category can coordinate selectively with other short-circuit protection devices connected in the same circuit under short-circuit conditions. The setting of parameters for protection functions such as overload long delay inverse time, short circuit delay (inverse time, definite time), and short circuit instantaneous protection;
  3. Three-stage protection parameter settings for action current and action time, adjustable in 4-10 levels: Users can adjust the controller settings according to load current requirements, or choose to disable corresponding functions (customized functions need to be specified when ordering);
  4. Large current instantaneous trip function: When the circuit breaker is closed and operating, if a large short-circuit current (≥20lnm) occurs, the magnetic trip mechanism of the circuit breaker can directly trip, providing dual protection for more reliable safety;
  5. Trip test function: Test the action characteristics of the circuit breaker by inputting DC12V voltage;
  6. Fault self-diagnosis function: Protect and monitor the working status and operation of the intelligent controller itself;
  7. Pre-alarm indication and overload indication: When the load current reaches or exceeds the set value, the corresponding light guide column emits light;
  8. Double air gap technology of the magnetic flux converter: More reliable and stable operation, eliminates misoperation, reliable tripping, and minimal power consumption;
  9. High protection accuracy: The action time accuracy of overload protection and short-circuit short delay protection is ±10%; the action value accuracy of short-circuit instantaneous protection is ±15%;
  10. Installation interchangeability: The shape and installation dimensions are the same as those of the ZSEEM1 series molded case circuit breakers.

Optional Features

  1. Temperature monitoring protection function: When the ambient temperature exceeds the set value (default setting 85℃), the controller will output an alarm photoelectric signal or trip the circuit breaker;
  2. Dual passive signal output function: Used for sending signals (or alarms), capacity AC230V 5A;
  3. Overload thermal memory function: Overload thermal memory function and short-circuit (short delay) thermal memory function;
  4. Firefighting shunt release function: Overload alarm without tripping (providing a pair of passive contacts) and providing shunt tripping function;
  5. Communication function: Standard RS232, RS485, Modbus field bus protocol;
  6. Can be connected to a handheld programmer: For setting various protection parameters of the circuit breaker and querying the last 10 faults and displaying various statuses, etc.;
  7. Can be connected to an intelligent control module: Converts optical isolation contact signal output, including programmable DO output function;
  8. High-end model with LCD display module.

Detailed Function Description

  1. Communication Function

With a communication protocol conversion card, it can be easily integrated into PROFIBUS-DP protocol networks, DEVICE-NET protocols, and other distribution automation networks, with remote control, remote adjustment, remote communication, and remote measurement functions. It can achieve remote operation of the circuit breaker and remote power dispatching.

  • Remote measurement: Grid working parameters, load current, fault parameters, etc.;
  • Remote communication: Various parameters of the circuit breaker, tripping characteristics, rated current, etc.;
  • Remote adjustment: Adjusting various protection parameters, tripping characteristics, and rated current of the circuit breaker through remote computer control;
  • Remote control: Remote computer control to open or close the switch.
  1. Handheld Programmer

LCD display, easy operation, simple interface, can set various protection parameters of the circuit breaker, query the last fault, function editing, DO function output programming, etc., and can set functions or upgrade other functions according to user-defined schemes.

  1. Overload Thermal Memory Function

The overload thermal memory function of the controller can be selected by the user, and the default setting at the factory is off. The energy of the controller’s overload thermal memory is completely released within 30 minutes.

  1. Short-circuit Thermal Memory Function

The short-circuit current protection thermal memory function (short delay) of the controller can be selected by the user, and the default setting at the factory is off. The energy of the short-circuit current protection thermal memory (short delay) of the controller is completely released within 15 minutes.

  1. Fault Recording Function

The controller can record the fault types, fault trip times, fault phases, and maximum fault currents of the last 10 occurrences, and the records are not lost during power outages.

  1. Firefighting Shunt Release Function

For use in firefighting systems, under the set parameters, the circuit breaker does not trip when the tripping conditions are met, and outputs a normally closed contact, providing a shunt release function that the user can choose to disconnect the circuit breaker.

  1. Programmable DO Output Function

The controller has four photoelectric signal outputs. DO1 and DO2 photoelectric signals can be programmed for the following function outputs. DO3 is a tripping signal, and DO4 is a closing signal.

  1. Circuit Breaker Open/Close Status Detection Function (Optional Function)

The controller can detect the current open/close status of the circuit breaker and upload it to the host computer network in real time.

Characteristics of the electronic trip unit:

Features include overload long-time inverse time, short-circuit short-time inverse time, short-circuit short-time definite time, short-circuit instantaneous action, and other protection functions. Users can configure the protection characteristics as needed. The neutral line overcurrent protection current and time parameters automatically track 100% of the set value of the phase line. The characteristics of the trip unit are shown in the figure below.

Note:

  1. Overload long-time action current Ir1 adjustment can be made in 4 to 10 levels depending on the breaker’s rated current.
  2. Long-time action time t1 adjustment can be made in 4 levels.
  3. Short-circuit short-time action current Ir2 adjustment can be made in 10 levels.
  4. Short-time action time t2 adjustment can be made in 4 levels.
  5. Short-circuit instantaneous action current Ir3 adjustment can be made in 8, 9, or 10 levels.

Communication Interfaces and External Module Applications for Networking of the ZSEEM1E Series Intelligent Circuit Breakers

The ZSEEM1E series of communication-enabled intelligent molded case circuit breakers are equipped with communication interfaces compliant with the MODBUS communication protocol.

When not used for network communication but standalone, a handheld programmer can configure the breaker’s protection characteristics through the communication interface. Alternatively, the ZSEE-CD LCD display module can be connected to monitor operating current and fault information.

When the ZSEEM1E series communication-enabled intelligent molded case circuit breakers are used for network communication, they can be directly connected to the corresponding fieldbus. For different protocol fieldbuses, the ZSEE-DP protocol conversion module can be used to convert MODBUS protocol for connection to the corresponding fieldbus.

Standalone Use of the ZSEEM1E Series Communication-Enabled Intelligent Molded Case Circuit Breakers

For protection parameter setting of the breaker, professional personnel need to use the ZSEE handheld programmer and connect as shown below, then follow the handheld programmer’s operating instructions.

When the ZSEEM1E series communication-enabled intelligent molded case circuit breakers are used with the ZSEE-CD LCD display module in normal operation, the display module can monitor the operating current and fault information of the breaker. For protection parameter setting, professional personnel need to use the ZSEE handheld programmer and connect as shown, then follow the handheld programmer’s operating instructions.

Usage and Maintenance

The various characteristics and accessories of the circuit breaker are preset by the manufacturer. Do not make arbitrary adjustments during use. For electronic circuit breakers, users must thoroughly understand the product’s technical information before adjusting any parameters.

The circuit breaker handle can be in three positions: closed, open, and free tripping. When the handle is in the free trip position, move the handle towards the open position to reset the breaker before closing.

Please adhere to the storage and usage conditions. From the date of shipment, if the product is damaged or malfunctions due to manufacturing quality issues within 12 months, the manufacturer will repair or replace it free of charge.

Ordering Information

Please specify the model specifications and order quantity of the circuit breaker. When using undervoltage trip units, shunt trip units, or motor operators, indicate the working voltage or control power voltage values.
